He began working for First Choice Community Healthcare in 2009 at the Alamosa Center, initially as alocum tenens provider, later working for FCCH directly. He soon tookthe post of Clinical Supervisor for that location, leaving in 2014 to assume theduties of Chief Medical Informatics Officer for FCCH on a half-time basis. This puts him at the interface of the needs of the patient and provider in the exam room, the programatic, regulatory and financial needs of the overall organization, and theservices offered by various vendors to support those needs. He attends FCCH Management Team and otherkey committee meetings, directsmany of the activities of the (small!) Clinical Application Support Team thattrains and supports allusers through routine operations, updates and system failures, and interacts constantly with the EHR vendor and other FCCH providers to shape both the system offerings and FCCH's effective use ofthe EHR. His clinical time is split between caring for some of the same patients he met nearly 8 years ago at Alamosa, sharing medical student precepting dutieswith the other Family Medicine providers there, and precepting family medicine residents a half-day per week at the FCCH South Valley Health Commons.
After the 4 long days of their work-week, he and his wife (also a UNM-FCM grad and FCCH Residency Education Director)enjoy hanging out with their 2children (7 months and 3 years old) on the 3 days off they have together. They still enjoy, but have much less time for international travel as well as local outdoor recreation like mountain biking and hiking.
