Family fun in South and West Wales!

Here is some information about the events and activities taking place over the next few months here in South and West Wales organised by RNIB Cymru.

The events are specifically for children and young people who are blind or partially sighted and their families. The aim of the events is to bring everyone together to try new activities, meet new people and to have fun!

Paint a pot at Creative Cafe, Narberth

Wednesday 27May, 2015. 4pm - 6.30pm

£3 per child

(Adults only have to pay if they take part in the pottery)

Come along and choose a piece of handmade pottery to personalise! We will be painting in a fun and friendly environment; where you can let your imagination run wild using as many or as little colours as you wish, write words, letters, numbers, paint squiggles, and swirls, curls and jageddy edges.

(Refreshments will be provided)

Fun down onthe farm - Greenmeadow farm, Cwmbran

Sunday 14 June, 2015 11am – 4pm.

£3 per child and £5 per adult (under 2’s free)

Come and join us for a fun day at the farm - meet some large

and small animals, take a tractor ride, and see the amazing water breathing dragon – but watch you don’t get wet!

You can also scramble around the adventure playground, dig

in the sand, and drive the pedal tractors.

Bring a picnic lunch or buy some goodies in the onsite Cwtch café

Play the afternoon away - Playking, Llanelli

Saturday 27 June 2015- 12pm

£2 per Child, Adults free (includes refreshments)

Run, jump, climb and giggle with us whatever the weather.

Come along and try the "Battle Cannon", "Firing Zone", "High Glide", 4-Lane "Astro Slide" and massive "Ball Pools".

Super hero training session at Spot

Bouldering centre, Pontypridd

Thursday 2 July 2015 - 6pm – 7:30pm

£2 per Child

(Adults only pay to take part in the bouldering)

If you fancy scaling the walls like spiderman come along to the

bouldering session where you can scale walls and ledges using

the hand and foot holds to get across - come and try it out!

(Refreshments provided)

Animal care event at Pembrokeshire College

(followed by a trip to McDonalds)

Saturday 11 July 2015 10am – 1.30pm

£1 per child and £3 per adult (includes lunch)

Come and meet some animal friends - rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises, snakes, lizards, birds etc. Find out more about

them and learn how to hold and care for them in our

interactive workshop

After our session we will pop to McDonalds for some lunch

Cruise away with us on a Brecon Canal Trip

Sunday 19 July 2015 12pm – 2pm

£3 per child and £5 per adult

Spend a chilled Sunday afternoon enjoying aleisurely trip cruising

along the monmouthshire and Brecon canal on the Dragonfly barge.

Full facilities on board – toilets and refreshments (included)

Some additional childrens activities will take place on board

(Wheelchair lift with space for 2 wheelchairs)

Swansea Community Farm

Wednesday 29 July 2015–12pm

£2 per child and £4 per adult (includes lunch)

Spend the day getting back to nature – meet some friendly

animals, learn how traditional farming skills are used to grow

food and the plants that create natural environments to support

wildlifein a city environment.

Techniquest, Cardiff

Tuesday 11 August 2015 – 12pm

£3 Child and £4 per adult (includes planetarium visit)

What will you discover?

Sensational science in the heart of Cardiff Bay. Where can you

fire a giant pop gun, launch a rocket, move half a ton of granite

and gaze at the galaxy, all in one day?

At Techniquest there are more than 120 hands- on exhibits all

waiting to be pushed, prodded and explored.

Ride the waves atSurfability, Swansea

Tuesday 18 August 2015 10am start

£4 per child (over 7’s only)

(Adults only pay to surf)

Fancy catching a wave? Give surfing a try at this 2 hour

Tastersession or soak up some sun and play on the sand.

To surf you will need to be aged 7 or over however, we will

be bringing along some activities for younger ones to play

on the beach

Barefoot ceramics, Newport

Thursday 20 August 2015 – 5pm

£3 per child

(Adults only have to pay to take part in the pottery)

Come along and choose a piece of handmade pottery to personalise! Have fun choosing your own colours and

design, let your imagination run wild! Whether you choose squiggles, or patterns, pictures or words you will create a unique masterpiece to take home

(Refreshments will be provided)

Adventure Day at Sealyham Activity centre

Haverfordwest

Sunday 23 August 2015

£8 per child (over 8’s only)

Adults only pay to part in the adventure activities

Come and take part in a day full of adventure, whether

It’s kayaking, ropes course, bushcraft, surfing or archery

you will have great fun at our adventure day.

We will bring providing some activities for children under 8

Bring along a picnic lunch

Event Information

Places on every event need to be booked in advance. Due to the nature of events places may be limited so book early to avoid disappointment

There are no limits to the number of events you can attend, however, if events are over-subscribed we may need to limit numbers at this point.

Transportis not provided for any events but if that’s a major issue please get in touch and we’ll try to help.

Also if the cost of an event is stopping you joining us please get in touch and we’ll try to find a solution.
