FAMILY CONTRIBUTIONtowards resources and school activities: As you walk around the school this evening, please note the level of resources we have – PE equipment, play equipment, music equipment, laptops/ipads, playground equipment, library resources etc. Grants from the Department of Education helped fund some of this equipment but not all of it. Your family donation to the school helps us to purchase a wide range of equipment – all of it benefitting each and every child. WE SUGGEST TO FAMILIES A CONTRIBUTION OF €30 per family. If you are not able to give this amount, give what you can. If you can afford to give more, it will be very much appreciated. We ask parents to place their contribution in the envelope attached. Envelopes can be given to the teacher via your child or at the parent teacher meeting. Receipts will be issued to all families who make a contribution. Thank you.

Our Green School Committee: Report from Caitlin Hannon (4th class) on Global Citizenship: Martina Butler talked to our class about Global Citizenship. At first we didn’t know much about it but she explained lots to us using her presentation. We have to take care of the world because it belongs to us. It is our job to clean it up and to stop pollution and dumping. How do we do this? There were five Rs – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair and Recycle. If we don’t buy stuff we won’t have to dump it. We should not buy more than we need.
Science Week events: Ms. McNeill’s class was one of many classes in the school busy during Science week. “We were lucky to have parents visit our classrooms who told us about how Science impact their lives. We did experiments with electricity and magnets. We learned about the human body and the important role nurses play in hospitals. We learned about microbes and microbiology. Science is so much fun and it is all around us! Thank you to parents who visited us: Padraig Harlow, Dermot Sutton, Ancy and Vinay Stephen and Cathal Connolly”. “4th class had a blast for Science week. We erupted a volcano, exploded coke with Mentos and eroded an egg shell with vinegar. Exploring computer science, girls displayed and explained their Minecraft and Scratch worlds. We can’t wait for Code Week”.
