Falmouth is located on the "shoulder" of the Cape is it part of the area called the Upper Cape which includes Sandwich, Mashpee and Bourne- all unique places on their own, Sandwich being the oldest Cape town, Mashpee with it's Wampanoag Indian history and Bourne which stretches along the Cape Cod Canal.

A few facts about Falmouth;

Falmouth has 68 miles of shoreline. Much of the access is private, but there are also ten town owned warm water beaches as well. The town consists of 8 villages famous among them is the leading oceanographic village of Woods Hole. HistoricFalmouthVillage features the Village Green which is lined with sea captain's homes and 200 year old elm trees. This is the historic shopping district. The revitalized streets and sidewalks are lined with flower beds in front of an array of eclectic owner-operated boutiques and trendy restaurants.

Falmouth enjoys easy access to Martha's Vineyard form Falmouth with a number of ferries transporting passengers to and from the island daily.

Falmouth has many gems that they are proud of. The newest of these is the 10.7 mile Shining Sea Bike Path that winds through cranberry bogs, ancient forests, the village of Falmouth and the protected Sippewisett Marsh. Here are some photos of the marsh and beaches in town.

There are many other pleasant walking trails also, in particular an area called "The Knob", near Woods Hole and Beebe Woods.

For nightlife Falmouth is tops. From funky blues clubs to charming piano bars and Irish sing-a-longs Falmouth has something for everyone. In the summer there is the College

Light Opera Company for plays and musicals. The Woods Hole Film Festival is world class as well as the Falmouth Jazz Fest. Staged readings of Broadway bound plays take place in July at the Cape Cod Theatre Project. Here is the cultural calendar web site for Falmouth: Family fun in the evening takes place on Thursday nights at the Falmouth Arts and Music Pavilion on beautiful FalmouthHarbor when the Falmouth Town Band plays marches, B-way hits and sentimental favorites. Wednesday evenings during the summer features family movies under the stars on Main Street and Friday evening’s host free folk, rock and jazz concerts in the park there as well. Also, the Falmouth Commodores play Cape Cod Baseball league games at Guv Fuller Field.

Other things to do for families and couples are the Ocean Quest Discovery Cruises , Woods Hole Science Aquarium , a sunset sail on the Liberte schooner , the Barnstable County Fair in late July and the world famous Falmouth Road Race in August
