Grading Policy

* The majority of the student’s grade is composed of the mastery of the Common Core State Standards through assessments, projects, and essays. In addition, your student will also be required to keep organized notebooks and participate in class.

80% assessments/projects/essays *Occasionally there will be pop quizzes on previously covered material

10% homework (No Retakes)

10% classwork

Homework

District guidelines state that a sixth grader shall receive no more than two hours of homework each night for all subjects combined.

-Homework can be found: 1) teacher’s board 2) minder binder 3) teacher’s website

-Repetitive late homework assignments will constitute a meeting with parents, counselors, and administrators.

-All late homework needs to be turned in before the end of the grading period. If complete, late work will receive a C grade.

-Make-Up work: Based on the school/ district policy, students have the same number of days to make up any missed work for days missed of school and will receive full credit. Check the teacher’s website for assignments posted daily.

-Every student is required to write homework down daily in his or her “minder binder.” Homework will be given Monday through Thursday. Weekend homework is uncommon and will only occur with long-term projects.

-There is No Extra Credit in either class.

One 3-subject notebook

Four 70-page notebooks (1 for each quarter)

Three-Five pens/pencils

One Highlighter

One pack of colored pencils

Binder paper (college ruled prefered)

One gluestick

Technology

Technology is very important here at Fallon. Students will be able to bring their own devices to school. They MUST adhere to the Fallon Technology agreement and the individual teacher’s class rules concerning technology.

Discipline

Refer to the individual teacher’s class rules.

Communication

Communication between school and home is essential for a successful school year. Please email your individual teacher with questions/concerns. Check the website for announcements and other updates. The best way to communicate is through email.
