UE Faculty-led programs abroad– Earl Kirk and Barbara Pieroni SB172

A round-table discussion of the 2011 UE faculty-led academic programs abroad in China, Jordan, Singapore, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Kingdom. This session will provide an opportunity for faculty leaders to share their experiences, challenges, and successes in that role with their fellow faculty leaders and with others who have led or hope to lead programs abroad.

“What I did this summer” – Joey Tipton, Phil Plisky, Tony Beavers, and Rania Mousa SB173

Faculty will report on fascinating summer research experiences. Topics include: “Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling for Fusion Reactor Components: Your Car Radiator on Steroids," “MP3 Study: Ensuring Warrior Power through Measuring Performance and Preventing Injuries,” “Deriving Semantic Meaning by Measuring the Quantity of Information Flow,” and “Emerging technologies in the field of accounting and business reporting.”

Panel of experienced faculty will discuss the pros and cons of teaching online courses during the summer. They will take questions and provide answers from their varied experiences.

Far beyond traditional news releases or press conferences, University Relations offers a diverse range of opportunities to showcase your department's events, activities, and achievements -- from social media to professional videos to hometown news releases. This session will also cover the basics of the University's integrated marketing plan, publicity request form, and other helpful documents.

The latest electronic resources added to the Libraries’ repertoire are books. This session will describe and demonstrate access to recently purchased e-book collections.Discussion of electronic journals and databases will round-out the session.

International Student Trends and Tips – Kate Hogan and Emily Fiedler SB71

Understand how international students relate to the UE population, common pitfalls, and what the Offices of Cultural Engagement and International Services offer to international students. In addition, find out how the International offices work with faculty to help students achieve their academic goals and make everyone’s job a little easier. An update on countries expected to be represented on campus this academic year will be provided.
