The High School Co-operative Education Program for Spring 2018 will be running from February - June.

The high school co-op students are placed in either the morning or afternoon for three (3) hours in length from Monday to Friday. Please select your preference:

It is strongly recommended that students receive an honourariam to cover travel and/or lunch expenses.

The Tourism & Culture Division is made up of the Tourism & Creative Industries, Heritage Resource Management, Arts Events and Grants and Cultural Planning and Marketing Sections. The Tourism & Creative Industries Section is home to both Tourism Hamilton and the Hamilton Music and Film office and services residents and visitors with information and customer service requests.
  • What do you consider as the duties of a High School Co-op student in your department?

Collects and packages tourist information and displays.
Updates local tourism publications and listing information for guides and website – (dining and accommodation information).
Update routine information on tourism website.
Update routine information in IDSS, Tourism’s customer relations data base.
Receives and answers routine inquiries from public, staff and visitors.
Maintains an inventory of equipment and supplies such as brochures.
Unpack boxes of Tourism Information (pamphlets, maps)
Set up and Tear Down of Event Space (tables & chairs).
Receives and answers routine inquiries from tourists at counter, via telephone, Ipads and email.
Performs routine office work such as taking and recording RSVPs for tourism functions.
Distributes brochures to the public, local conventions, attractions and other tourism facilities.
Compiles routine statistics.
Inputs and retrieves data such as customer information; customer profiles IDSS Customer Relation database.
Works in accordance with the provisions of applicable Health and Safety legislation and all City of Hamilton corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
Performs other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job.
