Concordia University,

Saint Paul

Fall 2008 Census Report

INTRODUCTORY COMMENTS

Annual fall enrollment reports present census day snapshots of Concordia University, St. Paul students. The tenth class day of the fall semester is used as the census date for students in traditional undergraduate programs. High school postsecondary education option students (PSEO) are included in traditional undergraduate tallies. The last Friday of September is used as the census date for students in graduate, degree completion, and continuing studies programs. All students registered for 1 or more credits are counted. Undergraduate students are considered full-time if registered for 12 or more credits on the census day. In most cases, also, students in degree completion and graduate programs are considered full-time if assigned to a cohort active at census time regardless of the number of census day credits. Standard full-time equivalency (FTE) is calculated by adding the number of full-time students to one-third of the number of part-time students. The budget FTE is used for internal purposes only and excludes students enrolled as visiting or continuing studies students only, PSEO students, CSP employees taking courses, and students in other non-revenue or reduced revenue categories.

Traditional Majors (Students who have accumulated 48 credits are expected to submit applications for majors to the registrar. Only those students who have “declared” majors identified in this way in Banner records are included in the second columns below. Not all students with declared majors in teacher education programs or church work certification programs have been officially admitted into those programs. Students can also simply identify majors of interest. The third columns contain tallies of those majors of interest that are not officially declared (labeled “other” below). The fourth columns contain the sums of declared majors and other majors of interest. Students with two majors listed are counted twice in the tallies. The tallies in the last columns are based on “first majors” in Banner records only and are included to provide estimated unduplicated headcounts by college.)

Graduate and Degree Completion Programs (Only students in cohorts active on the census day are included in the tallies.)
