Get Your Kaleidoscopes Out!!

Ready. Set. Go!! Welcome to March and a new opportunity to stretch our collective imagination as Paula Nadelstern visits the MVQG with her Kaleidoscope of Color conversation and wonderful new Puzzle Quilts and Simple Symmetry classes. You will never look at fabric in the same way again.

We still have a couple spots open for both classes, so if you are interested, please contact me as soon as possible. If you have done a Nadelstern quilt or pattern please bring it to show and tell.

A huge shout out to all of you who participated in the February Inner Artist Challenge of “Color Me Happy” with your exchange fabric; I was blown away by your creativity. Those who saw me afterward were entered in a drawing for a set of FQs and other goodies. The drawing will be held before Show and Tell at the March meeting.

March also brings with it National Quilting Day on the 19th. I’m hoping that everyone will find other quilters to share this day with pursuing our passion for quilting. Maybe work on a community quilt or on the NQA pattern published on their website. I am opening my home from 9-9 to the first six to send me an email or call to RSVP. I live in Bellbrook so I’m hoping that several of you will come enjoy the day with me.

Others who would like to volunteer to host some quilters for the day should make sure to tell me or Shari or get up and tell us yourself at the March meeting.

Happy Quilting

Lesa Bame, Vice President

A Note from the President... Wow, I made through my first board and guild meeting without being assassinated by guild members with their rotary cutters. I call that a success.

I want to thank those who have stepped up to take on some of the opportunities to assist the guild run smoothly and allow us to have fun together.

There is still one opportunity left (at the moment) and that is an easy and fun task…Library Assistant. Kathy Bean needs someone to divide the library books, bring them to meetings, decide what to order, help check them out and with returns. Barb Hartings will be able to help as a back up so this makes the Library opportunity an easy, fun job. This is truly a great opportunity for a newer member to get involved and get to know people or a seasoned member to get reacquainted.

Are you a shy person? Are you a person who wants to be included but doesn’t really want to talk to people? I am. Truly, I am not a social butterfly but have learned a trick that helps me with shyness. I step up for a ‘job’. I go to one person that I feel somewhat comfortable with and figure out what opportunity fits my comfort zone. So, a very shy girl (me) has served in various ways in the guild and met some of the most spectacular/caring women and men on this planet. If I had not figured out this ‘trick’ I would be sitting in the back corner thinking ‘woe is me, I wish I had a friend here.’ This ‘trick’ works in many areas of my life. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you.

Many blessings on your path.

Monthly Sew-in Opportunity

All are welcome to attend a monthly sew-in for the guild at the Fairborn Senior Center. The sew-in is the 4th Monday of every month. Our next sew-in will be Monday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $2.00 for guild members ($1.00 for members of the Fairborn Senior center).

Come and get to know other members of the guild. Come for a few hours or stay all day. (When you arrive, go to the back-door of the center and the room is to the left.)
