Please note: The above Scholarships are available for the 2014/15 academic year only (September 2014 to July 2015).

2.Guidelines for Scholarship Application

  • A Plymouth School of Tourism and Hospitality Professoriate Postgraduate Scholarshipis awarded to those candidates who, in the opinion of the panel and from the evidence of their application form and references are considered to be those most likely to excel on their chosen programme.
  • Only applicants who meet the requirements of their offer will be awarded.
  • Applicants must hold a minimum of a 2:1 degree or equivalent.
  • Scholarships cannot be deferred under any circumstances. Scholarships are awarded for the upcoming academic year.
  • Candidates who are studying part time are also eligible to apply. Please indicate on the form that you will be a “part time” student. Awards will be worked out on a pro rata basis.
  • Scholarship applications and related paperwork must be received by the Recruitment Coordinator no later than Friday 11th July 2014. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. It is your responsibility to ensure that all the requested information is supplied. You will not be contacted should there be missing/incomplete information.
  • Applications will not be considered after the closing date.
  • All applications should be posted/emailed in time for meeting the closing date.
  • Applications will be considered by the Scholarship Panel which meets to review the applications in July/August. Notification of decisions will be made as soon as is possible and prior to the commencement of the course of study.

3.Guidelines for the Referee

Faculty Scholarships are highly competitive and are only awarded to candidates who have exceptional academic achievement and potential to succeed on the course. In your reference, we would be grateful if you could comment particularly on the following points:

  • How many years have you known the applicant and in what capacity?
  • How do you rate his/her academic ability in relation to the course he/she is applying for?
  • What do you consider to be his/her major talents?
  • How might he/she profit from participating in the course applied for?
  • How would you rate the candidate in terms of intellectual ability, creativity, leadership and social skills?
