Description / Descriptive statistics, frequency distributions, histograms, ogives. Measures of general tendencies; mean, median, mode, standard deviation. Elementary sampling theory; small samples, chi-square distributions, t-distribution, degree of freedom, confidence intervals, chi-square test, analysis of tables. Estimation of parameters; point and interval estimations. Curve fitting; method of least squares, linear regression, correlation, approximating curves.

21/10/2013 / Coefficient of variation. Arithmetic mean, geometric mean, median, mode and standard deviation computed from a grouped data. Measure of symmetry, percentage of data falling into interval and compare with results obtained from the ogive curve.
28/10/2013 / Sampling theory. Random samples, sampling with and without replacement. Sampling distribution of . Law of large numbers and central limit theorem.

11/11/2013 / Point estimation. Properties of estimators.Unbiasdness, efficiency, consistency, sufficiency, robustness.
