INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETION OF THE APPLICATION FORM

The Rector of the University of Helsinki has decided (Rector’s Decision No 49/2013) that all students must register as attending or non-attending students by 31 August of each academic year.If the registration deadline falls on a Saturday or Sunday, registration will end on the following weekday.

A student who fails to register by the deadline loses his or her right to complete a degree.The student can be readmitted if he or she pays the re-enrolment fee and presents the receipt of payment to the service unit of Student Affairs by 31 July of the academic year.

After July 31, this form must be submitted to the Faculty to apply forreadmission.

The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry has decided (11 December 2003) that readmission depends on a statement by the representative of thestudent’s discipline.If the statement does not recommend readmission, the Dean of the Faculty then makes the final decision.Students who have failed to register must submit the application form, together with enclosures, to the professor in charge of the discipline.Students must be allowed to discuss the continuation of their studies in personwith a representative of their discipline and to receive individual student advice.

Required enclosures

The application form must be accompanied by a transcript of studies, a study plan and receipts of payment for the re-enrolment fee as well as the Student Union membership fee (the membership fee is optionalfor postgraduate students).The study plan must indicate at least the following:

  • Estimated duration of studies
  • Planned structure of thedegree:degree programme/major subject, specialist option, minor subjects and other studies
  • Any other additional information

Requesting a statement

Students themselves must submit their application together with the required enclosures to the representative of their department/major subject for approval.No statement from the department or major subject is required if re-enrolment takes place during the same academic year (by 31 July).

Submission of application after receipt of statement

The approved application andreceiptsfor the re-enrolment fee and the Student Union membership fee must be submitted within one month of an approval decision to Viikki Student services, Infokeskus Korona, 3rd floor, Viikinkaari 11,orother Student service point.

If a student fails to re-enrol within one month, the readmission decision will expire.

If the representative of the discipline does not recommend readmission, the application and its enclosures must be submitted to Viikki student services, either in person (Infokeskus Korona, Viikinkaari 11, 3rd floor) or by mail(P.O. Box 62, 00014 University of Helsinki).

Appealing a rejection decision

An applicant who has received a rejection decision can submit a written appeal to the Faculty Council within 14 days of the date the decision was sent to the applicant.
