  • Kelly (Diversity Committee) – there are new sections in the weekly newsletter on diversity training
  • SACNAS meeting report (Dana S.) Society for the Advancement of Chicano and Native American in Sciences. Recent national meeting, OSU had a significant presence with 5 booths and lots of interest. They took 23 students to the meeting. Next year’s meeting will be in California and will look for support and interest.
  • International Compliance – Export Control (Selina) handout given
  • Graduate-Undergraduate Research Mentoring Program (Matt Ramirez, Michelle Fournet) Matt and Michelle gave a report to promote the mentoring program. At present 38 undergrads and 28 grads are involved in the program. They asked that you encourage all undergrads to sign up for the mentoring program. Scarlett Arbuckle will be helping with administration of the program.
  • Highlights from the College Administrators Retreat (Selina)
  • Budget model – we stand to gain, will know how much in a few months. Takes effect next fiscal year.
  • Reserves issue -FW does not have much in the way of reserves right now, but other units in the College do and the College is in deficit. Clint Epps is on the CAS committee looking at the reserves issue
  • Teaching Reviews -We have a good model for teaching reviews, will push for retaining our system
  • Facilities – thee may be some money available for updates, maintenance, renovations
  • Updating your website (Leighann and Brian – Outreach and Communications Committee)
  • Leighann gave statistics on hits to our websites. Most come from prospective students looking at faculty pages. We receive over 2,000 users per month. She stressed the importance of keeping your website current.
  • Leighann, Brain and Amber helped faculty update their websites.

Updating your Faculty Profile – Fisheries and Wildlife website:

Step 1: Login to Oregon State email account – not needed unless resetting password

  • Keep email running in background

Step 2: Reset your Password– required once (unless you forget your password)

How to reset your password (external to ONID) on Horticulture Web Team managed sites:

  • Go to:
  • Click the “Log In” at the bottom of the site'shome page in the grey bar
  • Click “Request new password”, above the login page
  • Enter your username:firstname.lastname and the indicated verification code
  • A temporary password will be sent to your FW email immediately. This password will only work for 24 hours. If it expires follow the same process to get a new password.
  • Open your FW email and follow the email’s instructions by clicking on the unique url in the body of the message:
  • Professor X, A request to reset the password for your account has been made at Department of Fisheries and Wildlife. You may now log in to fw.oregonstate.edu by clicking on this link or copying and pasting it in your browser: “uniqueurl here”. This is a one-time login, so it can be used only once. It expires after one day and nothing will happen if it's not used. After logging in, you will be redirected to so you can change your password.
  • Type in your new password, and retype your new password to confirm
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “save”

Step 3: Editing your profile

  • Go to:
  • Click the “Log In” at the bottom of the site'shome page
  • Type your username and password
  • Find your profile page by either:
  • Sorting through the People tab to your section –or-
  • Click on the “My Account” at the top of the site, then click on the link to Edit your public profile
  • All fields are available to edit, please DO NOT change the settings to the following areas. If changed, your access to your profile page may become unavailable:
  • Profile Type
  • Department
  • Domain access options – Publishing options, publish to, and source domain
  • Menu Settings
  • Revision Information
  • Comment settings
  • URL path settings
  • Publishing options
  • To upload a file or image:
  • Use a file attachment field – prompted on page
  • Attach it in the body section
  • To edit text inside the WYSWYG – What you see if what you get (see image below)
  • To turn on spell check, click
  • To paste text from another source, click , paste your text inside the box, and then OK
  • To create a link, highlight the text you’d like to make a URL, click , paste the URL inside the URL box, click OK
  • After all edits are complete, scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Save”
