Faculty Agreement

The following tasks must be completed in their entirety, based on the course development timeline. Agreement must be signed at least four months before the course is offered. Support for a course delivered via Blackboard is also subject to this condition. All items, tasks, and deadlines apply to new and returning/revised courses. Some items may require documentation of completion.

It is the responsibility of the UTRGV Faculty (Subject Matter Expert) to meet the deadlines of this course development plan laid out by the Center for Online Learning and Teaching Technology Instructional Design Team (COLTT) in order to meet the course completion deadline.

  • COLTT will provide instructional design, technical training and support to Faculty in a hybrid format (a combination of face-to-face and online methods.)
  • Faculty will provide all course content to COLTT prior to the dates specified in the timeline below.
  • Faculty will provide all course content in electronic/digital format to COLTT.
  • Faculty will have access to Blackboard account to create, upload, edit, and preview course content.
  • COLTT will train Faculty to create, upload, edit, and preview course content in Blackboard.
  • Faculty will coordinate with COLTT prior to making any changes to course content regarding graphics, layout, or content areas during the development process.
  • COLTT will inform Faculty of delays, concerns, etc. that may impact the timely delivery of a course.
  • Faculty must be familiar with Texas Higher Coordinating Board requirements for Distance Education Instruction at

NOTE: Items to be completed by the date for the semester in which the course will be offered are listed below. Acknowledgement of course completion will be communicated in writing to the faculty member and Dean or Department Chair, as appropriate.

COLTT will provide the following services to Faculty and Students.

Faculty Services

  1. Assist faculty with the integration and use of selected technology tools and coordinate the production of digital materials through the COLTT Instructional Technology Team.
  2. Develop and implement online learning technology training for instructors.
  3. Recommend proctored testing services through our COLTT Testing Center.
  4. Maintain a “course repository” for project documents, online course templates, relevant public domain tools, and materials.
  5. Identify course design tools to assist faculty who are assigned course development responsibilities including but not limited to: effective learning strategies related to instructional design, current assessment tools, and instructor/student interaction techniques.

Student Services

  1. Refer online learning student inquiries to the appropriate academic department.
  2. Orient the students to any requirements related to course navigation.
  3. Provide technical support to students.
  4. Provide and support on Learning Management System (Blackboard™)
  5. Provide and support various online learning technologies.

This Agreement is signed and executed as of the date indicated.
