Hopewell-LoudonCarey School is seeking a qualified educational and organizational leader for the position of Superintendent due to the retirementsignation of Mr. Geoff MarkPalmer Vehre effective July 311, 20123. Mr. VehrePalmer has been with Hopewell-Loudonthe Carey School system for 29 years, superintendent for ninesix years.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience as a Superintendent is preferred, but not necessary. The Board is also open to considering non-traditional candidates for this position. An Ohio Superintendent’s certificate, or evidence of ability to certify, is required.

THE CONTRACT

The Board of Education will offer a multi-year contract with salary and benefits com-mensurate with education and experience and competitive with area school districts.

THE DISTRICT

The Hopewell-Loudon LocalCarey Exempted Village School District is located inside the Village of Carey in west central SenecaWyandot County. It is considered mostly rural, encompassing approximately fifty (50) square miles. The district borders Tiffin on the east and Fostoria on the west. The District’s 8590 students are housed in one building on a site which is located at the edge of Bascom. An OSFC project for newa new K-12 facility is under construction across the road from the current locationwas approved by the voters on May 7, 2013., scheduled for occupation starting with the 2013-2014 school year. Open enrollment has counted for about 300 of these studentsAbout 60 students open enroll in the district each year. Approximately 5067 students exit the district through open enrollment and 1521 attend community schools. The district offers a Vocational education program through the Vanguard-Sentinel Vocational programs in Tiffin. Career Technical Education through Vanguard Sentinel Career & Technology CenteMillstreamr Career Cooperative and Findlay City Schools, Dual College enrollment through University of Findlay and Wright State University, along with traditional PSEO.
