Introduce idea of R U Ready?
Discuss scenarios in two teams and decide whether characters are ready or not. Probably won’t use all the character cards, facilitator can pick out maybe 5 but copy all the scenarios for the delegates:

In your team have a look at each dilemma and decide whether each person is:

We’ve been going out for ages. All our mates reckon they have had sex, sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who hasn’t. People keep asking me what’s he like in bed. I don’t know what to say. I love just hanging out with him, playing on the play station or just chatting. But I hate being the odd one out amongst my mates.I’ve decided I’m going to get it over and done with tonight – my parents are out so no-one else will be around.

I’m going to shag someone at the party tonight – I don’t care who. I always find it really hard to chat people up – I just go bright red. So my mate is getting some vodka and I’m going to have that and find someone. It’s not like you need to know someone is it? It’s just sex and I’m sick of being a virgin.

We have decided I’m going to use condoms and she’s already on the pill. We are going out for a burger tonight then its back to mine.

We had sex for the first time last night – I didn’t really enjoy it. He said he wasn’t sure but I kept on about how we should go to the next stage. I wish I hadn’t gone on at him. He was really off with me when I rang him just then and now I’m scared that I might be pregnant. I’d said I was on the pill but I ran out a few days ago!

We haven’t been together long but we really like each other. We think about each other all day, I’ve spent a fortune on texts! I know it’s quite soon but I really want to do it. I’ve never been with anyone before – and I want it to be nice. It feels right and I like the fact that my partner treats me with respect. How cool is that! I’m going to send a text now – I think tonight is THE night.

We did it man! It was alright. I couldn’t get the condom on but she helped me out. It made us giggle trying to get it out of the packet. I’m glad it was her – she didn’t make me feel stupid cos I didn’t know what to do. We might wait a bit now and go to the sex clinic to find out a bit more about protection. Safety first man!

There is a party on Saturday and I’m going with my best mate. I really fancy my best mates boyfriend. It doesn’t matter does it? They aren’t serious.
I like flirting but there’s nothing wrong with that. If it goes a bit further, it doesn’t matter so long as I don’t get caught!

Summary –relationships can be difficult, fun, enjoyable, take time to build etc. It can really help to talk to the other person and to friends and families about what is going on.
