Monday, October 2

  1. DEAR! (15 mins)

  3. Introduction to the PSAT
  4. Read the article “Does the PSAT Really Matter?”
  5. In the Student Guide to the PSAT, review the two Language Arts related sections: Evidence Based Reading and Writing p. 10 and Writing and Language p. 17.
  6. Review the question types for each section.
  7. Review the short stories quiz. For each question you missed, 1) identify the type of question (see PSAT question types), 2) write an explanation that describes what you thought the question was about, 3) explain why the real answer is a better one than the answer you chose.
  8. Go back and review the QHT from Unit 2- Defining Style
  9. Introduce Unit 4: Exploring Poetic Voice
  10. Read the Unit Overview on p. 283.
  11. QHT: Unit 4 Academic Vocabulary and Literary Terms

Tuesday, October 3

  9. Introduce Poetry Out Loud assignment. Students should bring a copy of two poems from the POL site on Friday.

LG: Synthesize materials related to decorating for the homecoming dance. Add aesthetic appeal through appropriate design. ELAGSE9-10SL2:Integrate multiple sources of information presented in diverse formats and media (e.g., visually, quantitatively, orally) in order to make informed decisions and solve problems, evaluating the credibility and accuracy of each source and noting any discrepancies among the data.
