Salary:SCP26: £22,221p.a. pro rata; £11.51 per hour

Hours of work:Part time 18.5 Hours per week with some flexibility for increase as funding allows

Responsible to: CVSChief Executive

Location: StevenageCVS, Swingate, Stevenage SG1 1RU. You will be occasionally required to work off-site.

Purpose of Job:

To provide support for, and communicate all ‘public facing’ CVS core activity, publicity and events as outlined below. To ensure CVS services continue to be effective, consulting with members where appropriate.To develop new social media and explore opportunities for income generation through paid-for work.

Main Responsibilities

Communications

Advise new and potential members on the services provided by CVS and review member satisfaction levels.

  • Work to increase CVS membership figures in line with targets in strategic plan.

Support general CVSenquiries from Member groups via telephone, email and in person.

Assist in the development of website opportunities to communicate CVS services and activities.

  • As a member of the CVS team, help to identify income generation opportunities.

Voluntary Sector Networks and Partnerships

  • Support theCVS Chief Executive in identifying agenda items and speakers for Partnerships, liaising with speakers and booking venues / equipment.
  • Attend Partnerships events. Provide administration support for Networks and Partnerships where required.
  • Provide support for CVSonline networks and engage with specialist voluntary sectortheme groups.

CVS Training

  • Work with CVS Chief Executive to organise training events (liaising with trainers and other partners and booking venues / equipment), and with the Office Managermanage bookings for training events.
  • Perform training needs surveys to identify appropriate training for member groups as required.

Staff Management

  • Provide support and liaise withthe Social InclusionPartnership minute-taker.

General

  • Usethe client management system to record work with groups and networks.
  • Deputise for the CVSChief Executiveon appropriate network groups where necessary.
  • Attend regular CVS team meetings and occasional CVSBoard meetings when requested
  • Support other administrative and operational staff
  • Work in accordance with CVS equal opportunities policy and practice
  • Undertake other tasks as may be required from time to time

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of working or volunteering in the voluntary sector
  • An understanding of the needs of the voluntary and community sector
  • Experience of working or liaising with people from diverse backgrounds
  • An understanding of equal opportunities and a commitment to all sectors of the community

Skills:

  • Up to date IT skills and experience in Publisher or similar
  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English
  • Ability to produce clear, informative reports
  • Ability to work independently and within a team of paid staff and volunteers
  • Ability to be flexible, plan, prioritise and manage workload and deadlines
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
