Extended Foreign Assignment allowances: for assignment of greater than one year.

1)Reimbursement for temporary living costs for up to 60 days including lodging, per diem and car rental, while seeking a permanent residence.

2)Reimbursement for the cost of housing of $1,000 to $1,500 per month depending on the size of the family for 6-12 months depending on length of assignment.

3)Provide a Relocation Allowance of $3,000 after completion of the move for “settling in” expenses.

4)Provide a Foreign Service Premium of 15% of your monthly base pay for each month or partial month of service abroad.

5)During the period of the foreign assignment and residence in Chile a monthly Cost of Goods and Services differential between Charlottesville, VA and Santiago, Chile. This adjustment is based on the size of the family and salary level of the employee. This adjustment is subject to change monthly basis. .

6)Transportation costs to (on assignment) Chile for you and your spouse and dependent children.

7)One roundtrip per year between Chile and your home for you, your spouse and your dependent children. This includes the reimbursement of round trip air fare and the cost of ground transportation to and from the airport. Other transportation costs, hotels, meals and other expenses associated with the home leave will not be reimbursed.

8)The Observatory will pay for the packing, surface shipping, fees and related reasonable customary expenses to move your non-perishable household goods to Chile. The maximum surface shipment is what will fit into a standard twenty - forty foot container depending on the length of the assignment and size of family. The Observatory will pay temporary storage of your shipped goods received in Chile for up to 60 days coinciding with your initial temporary housing.

9)Transportation costs to the U.S. at the end of your Chilean assignment for you, your spouse and dependent children as well as the cost of shipping your household goods.

10)During your appointment the Observatory will reimburse for actual and reasonable education expenses for dependent children (K-12) attending school in Chile.

11)Reimbursement for actual receipted fees and costs of documents such as passports and visas for you, your wife and dependent children who will accompany you to Chile.

12)The Observatory will contract with an accounting firm each year of your assignment to provide assistance to you in the preparation and filing of required tax forms etc.
