Expressions of interest are invited from teachers interested in a career opportunity in the position of Deputy Principal, Instructional Leader, Literacy and Numeracy 3­6 from 27 January 2017 to 19 December 2017 (with the possibility of an extension).

The Deputy Principal, Instructional Leader, Literacy and Numeracy 3­6 will develop the instructional capacity of staff whilst focusing on improving the literacy and numeracy acquisition of all students in Years 3­6.

An expression of interest addressing the selection criteria, of no more than 2 pages in length should be submitted to

by 4.00pm Friday 2 December 2016.

School Information
Harrington Street Public School was established in 1962. The school is located at Cabramatta West and is a member of the Fairfield School Education Group. The school caters for a diverse student population, with over 90% of students from a language background other than English. There are currently 38 language backgrounds, with Vietnamese, Teochew, Cantonese, Khmer and Arabic speaking backgrounds the largest groups. Staff are highly trained and committed to continual improvement.
Parents are valued partners in determining school priorities. The school continues to have a proud history of academic success and student self-discipline. Strong student welfare programs and sport and cultural initiatives support a balanced approach to lifelong learning. Statement of duties

Use NAPLAN and PLAN data to drive improvements in literacy and numeracy across all KLAs

Use data to map students to the literacy and numeracy continuums and track progress

Work in collaboration with the LaST and the LST to devise strategies, interventions and programs to improve the literacy and numeracy achievements of all students

Build teacher capacity to identify the literacy and numeracy needs of students in our setting

Deliver relevant teacher professional learning to all staff to build the capacity of all staff

Develop staff to deliver differentiated instruction to improve the literacy and numeracy achievements of our students

Team teach in a variety of classroom settings to improve classroom instruction

Monitor milestones in the School Plan to reflect the effectiveness of strategies and interventions for all students

Provide instruction to all staff on quality teaching and pedagogy.

Selection criteria

Proven successful experience in instructional leadership that has improved learning outcomes for Yr3-6 students in literacy and numeracy.

Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, implementing successful change processes that has resulted in improved learning outcomes for Yr3-6 students.

Demonstrated deep understanding of current research in effective instructional leadership and effective high quality teaching in early literacy and numeracy.

Demonstrated experience in the provision of high quality differentiated professional learning that has enhanced teacher capacity in improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for Yr3-6 students.

Outstanding communication skills with the demonstrated capacity to contribute to building and strengthening a collaborative learning culture in a school.

One of the referees listed must be the applicant’s current principal or supervisor for non-­school-­based staff. Expressions of interest must not exceed 2 A4 pages and require the signature of the applicant’s current principal or supervisor.

Candidates may be required to participate in an interview process as a component of the EOI process.
