What to bring: Your bib number pick-up card and a photo ID.

Expo hours: Friday, April 15 from 2-7PM, Saturday, April 16 from 9-6PM, Sunday, April 17 from 9 – 6PM (John Hancock strongly discourages runners from going at 2PM on Friday. You will wait forever).

Getting to Hopkinton:
Meet the team at the first benchinside the Common at the intersection of Charles and Beacon no later than 8:15on Marathon Monday.

  • If you are not planning on being there, I need to know that.
  • If someone is dropping you off at that location, the address for the GPS is 66 Beacon Street, Boston MA 02108 (the Starbucks across the street).
  • Please give yourself plenty of time to get there, you don’t want to miss the bus to Hopkinton!

What Should I do that morning? Eat a solid breakfast, and please apply Vaseline or body glide to avoid chaffing and put on sunscreen! I would recommend an SPF moisturizer for your face so that you don’t sweat it off!
What Should I wear?

  • Your Samaritans’ running top
  • Whatever bottoms you are comfortable running in (personally, I would avoid shorts to ward off chaffing)
  • Comfy clothes that you never want to see again! You will be at Athlete’s Village for a while before you start running. Whatever you take off there, you will not get back. Rummage through your closet, the lost and found at your gym, or go to thrift store before the marathon and pick up a pair of comfy pants and a sweat shirt that you don’t mind losing.

What Else Can I Bring?

  • A clear gallon zip lock bag with food for the bus
  • A small running fanny pack if you want to keep anything on you while you run
  • A backpack/tote back with a comfy change of clothes/flip flops for the after party. We will collect these bags before you get on the bus – I would not recommend the official bag check.

What Will We Do before Getting on The Bus?

  • Take lots of pictures
  • Get your name signs
  • Decorate ribbons with your loved ones names to keep on you as you run (optional!)
  • Grab some gu
  • Reapply sunscreen and body glide

Cheering Section and Spectator Info:

We will be at Mile 17 from the start of the Race until our last runner passes us! We would love for your friends and family to join us there. Mile 17 is accessible by T if you get off at the Woodland stop (we’re across the street), or you can follow Steve’s driving directions:

To get to Mile 17, park behind Lasell College in Newton:

Driving there - get off 128 at Route 30 (Exit #24 - Comm Ave) and head east. Bear right at the light onto Auburn St. Turn right on Woodland Road and park on any of the side streets to your right across from the campus. I picked 91 Aspen St as a destination/starting point on the map below.

Wherever you park in that neighborhood, you walk down to Washington St, turn right and walk to Mile 17 (about ½ mile from the intersection of Aspen) on the edge of Woodland Golf Club.

To get from Mile 17 to Boston, walk back to your car  and then follow these directions. In essence, you just backtrack to Rte 128, cross over the highway and follow the signs for the Mass Pike (Rte 90) heading into Boston. Get off the Pike at exit 18 and get on Soldiers Field Rd/Storrow Drive to the Back Bay or Clarendon St exit and find a place to park. I’ve always found a spot in 5 minutes or so. People are coming and going all day.

Of course, your supports can cheer for you anywhere they would like, just be sure they have the spectator information that you will receive closer to Marathon Monday.

What will Happen When I Pass Mile 17?

  • You’ll get a hug!
  • And snacks!
  • And sunscreen!
  • And your picture taken (you’ll look great, I promise)!

What Happens After I Finish?

We celebrate at Back Deck! We have the restaurant reserved from 3-7PM. There will be food provided and a cash bar. If you plan on staying past 7, please make a reservation for your group.
