Position Title / Training Officer

Position Objective / The Training Officer is responsible for the coordination, implementation and evaluation of learning and development initiatives foremployees to enable and contribute to the delivery of high quality services to tenant and stakeholders which reflect the values of Compass Housing Services.
Key Responsibilities / •Design, coordinate and deliver internal training programs in consultation with the Executive Manager Corporate and Human Services and/or departmental managers;
•Develop training supporting documentation as required;
•Ensure the accurate and timely implementation and maintenance of training records in consultation with other Human Resources personnel;
•Coordinate employee inductions, including review and development to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the program;
•Ensure consistent implementation of training across the organisation;
•Monitor, evaluate and report on learning and development activity across the organisation;
•In consultation with the Executive Manager Corporate and Human Services source, recommend and coordinate provision of specialised external training as required;
•Liaise with Managers, internal and external training providers to develop training, training schedules and ensure the timely delivery of the training;
•Participate in the development, review and monitoring of the Annual Training Matrix for the organisation to ensure all requirements are met;
•Assist in the review and development of policies and procedures as may be required;
•Participate in external audits as required;
Key Accountabilities / Position
  • Delivery of training in accordance with the Annual Training Schedule
  • Development and maintenance of complete and accurate training records
  • Development of an Annual Training Schedule prior to 30 June each year
  • Provision of accurate and timely reporting of Training on a monthly basis
  • Deliver New Employee Inductions as required
  • Proactively participate in team meetings
  • Review and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes
  • Contribute effectively to the operation of the Human Resources Unit and demonstrate flexibility to ensure the achievement of departmental goals

•To ensure that work health and safety processes are followed to ensure a safe environment for all workers and visitors;
•To monitor health and safety within the workplace and report all incidents as per Compass Housing Services Incident Reporting Procedures
Extent/Delegation of Authority / •Act under the direction of the Executive Manager Corporate and Human Services
•Perform tasks within the guidelines of Compass Housing Services policies and procedures, and
•Perform tasks within the position limits and act within delegated authority asset by the Compass Delegations Policy and Schedule.
Judgement & Decision Making / •Required to exercise well informed and responsible judgement in relation to key responsibilities and accountabilities within the positions delegation of authority,
SELECTION CRITERIA
Qualifications /
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment (or similar) or working towards completion;
  • Diploma of Human Resource Management
  • Competency to operate Microsoft Office packages
  • Current drivers licence

Practical Experience /
  • Demonstrated experience and sound knowledge of the principles of adult education and group work;
  • Strong skills and demonstrated experience in development, facilitation, presentation and the evaluation of training programs;
  • Experience in identifying training needs and analysing gaps;
  • Strong research and analytical skills;
  • Experience in development and delivery of training in a corporate setting (desirable);

  • Ability to work independently and in a team oriented environment;
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving skills;
  • Competent and engaging communicator.
