EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Gunnison Valley Regional Housing Authority (GVRHA) is seeking a highly- motivated candidate to lead our organization in the position of Executive Director. The GVRHA is a multi-jurisdictional organization located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado surrounded by some of the greatest outdoor recreational opportunities available in this country. This pristine beauty comes with a price. Like most resort areas in the country, we are faced with rapidly-increasing property values that challenge us in providing available and affordable housing for our workforce.
The agency is relatively new and growing with a staff of 2;, the director oversees a $500,000 budget. The GVRHA administers 44 Housing Choice Vouchers, 62 units of public housing and qualifies numerous publically and privately owned deed restricted units throughout the valley. The GVRHA Board is composed of 9 members that include representation from our participating jurisdictions; Gunnison County, the City of Gunnison, the Town of Crested Butte, and the Town of Mt. Crested Butte.
The successful candidate must possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, urban planning or a closely related field. Additionally, we are seeking a candidate with five years of experience in advanced administration or management of public housing or nonprofit/for profit affordable housing. Our Director must have or commit to obtaining within one year, the NAHRO Certified Management Executive Certification or the PHADA Executive Director Education Program. Exceptional knowledge, skills and abilities in leadership, management efficiency, business acumen, communication (both written and oral), stakeholder engagement and portfolio expansion must be demonstrated by the successful candidate.
