Minutes of September 22, 2010

1. Introduction of members of committee.
2. Minutes from September 8, 2010 reviewed.
v Travel policy status was discussed. Wayne stated it was in Tom Mahoney’s office last time he checked on it. Manish will send email to Tom Mahoney to find out the current status.
v Minutes from the CSCC meeting on September 8, 2010 meeting were approved pending some minor revisions.
3. Review and discussion on new charge: Proposed Facilities Use Policy was open to the members. Section II Definitions of Policy was omitted in some copies and new copies were distributed to members who needed them. Timeline of charge by Steering Committee was reviewed and discussed.
v Policy was discussed by members;
o Context of the policy; origin of the policy – why is the policy being drafted?
o Discussion of the balance of the College’s mission and the constitutional rights of citizens to use public property.

Policy – 2. Public Use Areas – a. Users / 5 / Clarification on College users and Non-college users. Does everyone coming on campus need to notify Campus Police?

Who decides; how many members of appellate board?
4. It was determined that questions from the policy will be submitted to the Carol (via email) by October 6th and then compiled into one listing. The listing will be reviewed by all group members and presented to Tom Mahoney, General Counsel, at the October 13th meeting. Manish will include this request in his email to Tom regarding the travel policy.
5. Fora selection and date is on hold until policy can be reviewed. November 2010 is the target date for the Fora.
