Announcements ~ August 13, 2017

Welcome!

Everyone is welcome. As a community of the people of God, the members of Faith Lutheran Church are called to welcome all people. We affirm that in Christ “there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male or female” (Galatians 3:28). Christ has made us one.

Welcome to our visitors! We are pleased you are worshiping with us today. We invite guests to complete the Yellow “Guest” card found in the pew racks and leave it with an usher or place it in the offering plate. If you would like more information about Faith, please contact us at 920.775.4141 or .

Blank offering envelopes are available in the pews for visitors or if you forgot yours at home.

Children are welcome at all services. Worship bulletins for children and activity bags are available in the Narthex. If your child needs a break from the service, feel free to walk to the narthex/back of the church.

Welcome to the Lord’s Table. Today we will be celebrating communion by intinction. At the table of our Lord Jesus Christ, God nourishes faith, forgives sin, and calls us to be witnesses to the Gospel. The ushers will direct you to come down the center aisle and approach the altar. Please extend your hands in which to receive the bread. Both wine and grape juice are available (Grape juice is in the smaller portion of the chalice). Gluten free elements are available. All are welcome at the table. Those who are not communing may come forward for a blessing. (Please remember when you fill out the yellow card found in the pew, to include your first name as there may be others in the church with similar last names.)

“Place in their hands the Holy Scriptures”

We’ve made this promise in front of God! Please help the Board of Christian Education as we look for those willing to sponsor a Bible to be given to our youth.

Perhaps you would like to sponsor your own child, grandchild, Godchild, neighbor, or would like to sponsor a Bible that can be given to any of the youth of your choosing. All members in 4K (and those in 5K who did not receive a Bible in 4K) will receive a storybook Bible. Third graders are given a Bible that is wonderfully broken down for them to understand and 6th graders are given their Confirmation Bible.

You will find a display in the Gathering Space (through Sunday, August 27th) where you can choose the child you would like to sponsor. There are labels provided that you will be able to write a special note on which will be inserted into the Bible so when your chosen youth receives their Bible on Rally Sunday they will know who was thinking of them.

Place the youth’s name, label, and $20 in an envelope and put into the basket provided.

Thank You in advance! Please feel free to talk with Bridget Valleskey, Stefanie Kaderabek, or Nicki Behnke if you have any further questions.

FAITH MORTGAGE-RETIREMENT MATCHING FUND

Faith Lutheran has received a generous memorial bequest from Janice Jandrey. Janice’s deep love for God and Faith has led to a generous gift: the creation of a $50,000 matching fund to reduce our mortgage debt. We are so thankful to the family for this generous offer! The Janice Jandrey Memorial Matching Fund Drive has begun and will continue until December 31, 2017. All funds donated to the capital appeal during this time will be matched up to $50,000. (This includes all donations that have already been pledged, but the intent of the gift is to encourage additional giving). Every dollar you give during the fund drive is effectively doubled. Please see the display in the Gathering Space for more information.
