Events for Native Plant Week

Midlands Chapter

Native Plant and Seed Swap on Saturday, October 14, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. This will be in the upper parking lot of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (3909 Forest Drive, Columbia). Tables will be provided. Just bring plants or seeds that are identified. Plants will be given away even to those who do not bring any.

Piedmont Chapter

The Museum of York County at 4621 Mount Gallant Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732 will be focusing on native piedmont plants that week in the Naturalist Center. Table displays will include native grasses, native wildflowers, native trees, and invasive species.

Sunday, October 15 the Piedmont Chapter will have a display at the Katawba Valley Land Trusts Annual Meeting (25th Anniversary)

Upstate Chapter

Upstate Fall Sale to 14-15 October

Rick Huffman is speaking to the Foothills Garden Club on the (Sept?) 19th and Audubon TBD in Spartanburg. He is also presenting also to Greenville County Planning in benefits of native plants for riparian buffers and stormwater and promoting native plants as part of the Green Ribbon Committee of Greenville.

Bill Stringer, Why We Advocate for Native Plants (and We're Not Being Xenophobic) talk on Native plants on Tuesday October 17 at 11:00 Clemson University Emeritus College.

Lowcountry Chapter

Tuesday, October 17: Rediscovering the Lowcountry Landscape in the Footsteps of Our Forebears

NOTE: This lecture will take place at Charles Towne Landing’s Founders Hall, 1500 Old Towne Road, in honor of South Carolina Native Plant Week. Doors will open at 5:30 pm, with the program to begin at 6:30 pm, with a reception to follow. This event is free for SC Native Plant Society and Audubon members and sponsors. Guests are welcome for a $5 donation.
