5th Annual “Movers. Shakers. Difference Makers.”
The Palm in Atlantic City Hosts Power Lunch
To Benefit Gilda’s Club South Jersey
(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – August 20, 2009) –Once again the who’s who of Atlantic City are joining together for the “Movers. Shakers. Difference Makers.” luncheon hosted by The Palm Restaurant on Friday, October 9, 2009. This fabulous afternoon includes signature cocktails, outstanding Palm cuisine, silent auction and raffle to benefit Gilda’s Club South Jersey and its free program of social and emotional support.
Hosted by MC, Fox 29 Anchor Dawn Stensland, the 5th annual luncheon invites guests to mix and mingle to make a real difference in the lives of those living with cancer, their friends and family.
As a special tribute, Gilda’s Club South Jersey will honor Paul Sandler, General Manager of The Palm Restaurant in Atlantic City for his continued support, charitable contribution and dedication to the organization.
“This is the fifth consecutive year The Palm is donating our restaurant, servers and cuisine for this exclusive event,” said Paul Sandler, General Manager of The Palm Restaurant in Atlantic City. “There will be a few changes at this year’s luncheon. We are excited to be offering three incredible raffle prizes, one which includes a chance to have your caricature added to our famed Palm walls, in addition to the always popular silent auction.”
Raffle tickets are available for $25 per ticket or $100 for five tickets. All proceeds benefit Gilda’s Club South Jersey.
As a corporate focused philanthropy, The Palm Restaurant’s have helped raise over $2 million dollars for cancer charities across the nation. The Palm has hosted events with local charities such as Gilda’s Club South Jersey, raising more than $65,000 last year.
Gilda's Club is named for Gilda Radner, the beloved Saturday Night Live comedienne who died of cancer in 1989. Gilda's Club offers free social and emotional support in a warm, welcoming, homelike, but non-residential setting. Gilda's Club South Jersey is open to anyone touched by cancer, as well as his or her family and friends.
“We are proud to honor The Palm General Manager Paul Sandler at this year’s luncheon for all he has done for Gilda’s Club and our more than 1,000 members,” said Sarah Griffith, CEO of Gilda’s Club South Jersey. “Due to the generous support of The Palm Restaurant and the luncheon attendees, Gilda’s Club has raised more than $250,000 over the past four years. This year is sure to be the best event to date.”
Admission to the event is limited to the first 250 who respond. The event kicks off at 11:30 a.m. at The Palm Restaurant in Atlantic City. Cancer support for the Whole Family, the Whole Time
The mission of Gilda’s Club is to provide places where people with cancer and their families and friends join with others to build social and emotional support as a supplement to medical care. Free of charge and non-profit, Gilda’s Clubs offer support and networking groups, lectures, workshops and social events in a nonresidential, home-like setting. Funding is made possible by individuals, corporations, foundation and special events.
