World Religions Presentation

Your presentation should include all of the following and any additional facts pertinent to your topic.

1)  Approximately what year did your religion begin? Who started it?

2)  About how many people worldwide practice this religion?

3)  In what areas of the world are most of the members living?

4)  Who do believers of this religion worship?

5)  What is their view of God? How is he portrayed? Is He good? Is He relational?

6)  How do they believe they are saved?

7)  What does salvation look like to them? How does their afterlife/heaven look?

8)  Is there a sacred text? AND, whose teachings do they follow?

9)  What does their worship look like?

10)  What important Holy Days do they observe?

11)  Any interesting facts you would like to share?

12)  In what ways is it similar to Christianity? In what ways is it different from Christianity? Be sure to mention BOTH similarities and differences. Be sure to deal with beliefs and practices. A good way to show the contrasts would be by making a chart.

13)  Find a Bible verse or two that disprove the religion you are studying.

14)  How would you go about trying to tell this religion about Christianity? What might be some things not to say, things that would be offensive? What things would they understand, or like, or connect with?

Requirements:

n  Typed bibliography of at least 3 different sources

o  Due Tuesday 9/15 15 points

n  3 posters OR a 12 slide power point presentation

o  Due on Monday 9/21 50 points

n  Fill-in-the-blank notes for the class to fill in while you teach

o  Due on Monday 9/21 10 points

n  Everyone in your group will present to the class for 2-7 minutes

o  Presentations begin on Tuesday 9/22 25 points

Total: 100 points

3 Posters or a Power Point Presentation

-Poster with the areas in the world that serve this religion

-Poster with statistics about this religion: women and men involved, number of practicing members, growth rate, other important facts
-Poster showing images of worshippers of this religion and their practices, their places of worship, etc.

-They may be full-sized or half-sized poster board, and they may be done back-to-back if you like

OR

Power point presentation – at least 12 slides, half of which have pictures or graphics. Each slide should contain facts that your group has found.

Make sure that when you make your presentation and others take notes, you think about these questions:

Did the class leave knowing what the goal of a believer is in this religion?

Did you give enough information for the class to do well on your handout?
