Newsletter Summer – Pentecost 2017
Dear Members and Friends of Newcastle United:
The summer weather has finally arrived. Longer days, although not always sunny it seems, are here. This is the time of year we start thinking about our holidays, be it away from work, school, or even church.
We may be taking a holiday from gathering together, but let’s not take a holiday from spending time with God. This time of year, when much of life is taken outdoors, gives us even more opportunity to enjoy and acknowledge the beauty of God’s creation. Don’t forget to take a moment to stop and say thank you. Nothing more is needed than the simple prayer: “Thank you.”
I am aware that this holiday time also marks for me a year since I left my position with the Conference and nearly a year since I arrived here at NUC. As I often tell people who ask how I am feeling about that change, it is one of the best decisions God has ever called me to make. I have truly enjoyed this first year with you. But I have also felt truly blessed to be allowed to minister with you. The energy, excitement and enthusiasm here at NUC have illustrated the Spirit at work to me more than at any other time in my ministry. Thank you.
During these slower days of summer may we take time to remember whose we are and to enjoy the gifts of abundance we have been given as we celebrate the abundant light, love and laughter of the summer.
-Rev. Mary-Jane

Ever wonder what the committees of the Church do? What does it mean when we refer to Elders or Stewards? In upcoming newsletters we will look at the answers to these questions and more about Newcastle United Church and The United Church of Canada. Have a question you have always wanted answered but never asked? Send it to the Church office and it may appear in the newsletter. If you have the question chances are someone else does too and just never asked.

Hi everyone! Our leaders are enjoying their summer break too, with family and friends. But that doesn’t mean we won’t miss you. We’ll be super happy to be back together on September 10 with more active learning about our faith and all the interesting people in the Bible.
We pray each of you will keep safe, have a fun time and stay cool. So – have an awesome summer. We’ll see you in September. Remember – your friends are always welcome to come to church with you. If you like to be here, maybe they would too!
Messy Church and Board Games start up again when you’re back in school. We’ll let you know in the church bulletins and on our website.
