Course Syllabus forBCN2721Construction Planning and Control

Catalog Course Description:

BCN 2721Prerequisite: None; Recommended: BCN 2563. Survey of important points to be considered in construction projects. Covers development of CPM (Critical Path Method) plan with emphasis on construction activities, time durations, scheduling, sequence of operations, follow-up methods, project control and integration of calendar dates to plan. (Special Fee $31.00)3 credits, 4 contact hours.

Class Meetings:Room 9-204, 6:00PM – 9:00PM,Wednesday nights, 15 weeks

Note: This course is mixed mode (hybrid) format, so students are expected to complete course contentonlineoutside of class, and some quizzes may require review of online materials.

Optional resource: Construction Project Management, 6th Edition(copyright 2015) by Sears/Sears/Clough (Wiley).

Materials:MS Project, SureTrak, Contractor,and Excel software will be available on computers in the classroom. Assignments will be made during the semester requiring the use of computers.

Student Performance Assessment:

Lecture quizzes, homework/assignments, semester project, and the final exam will each count 25% to determine your course grade. Your final average will be valued according to the following scale:

Grading scale:90 - 100% = AGrading Procedure:Quizzes25 %

80 - 89% = BHomework/Assignments25 %

70 - 79% = CSemester Project25 %

60 - 69% = DFinal Exam25 %

0 - 59% = FTotal100 %

Example: quizzes - 75, assignments - 85, project - 90, final exam - 80,average - 82.5, grade = B
