ETAI is getting better and better!

Newsletter 14: November, 2008

Dear Readers,

We have, after consultation with the Board, a new slogan for this year: ‘ETAI is getting better and better!’

Which it is: more membership than last year, more events, more ideas for the future, and a general feeling of enthusiasm and purpose.

But in order to justify this slogan we need your help: if you are a member of ETAI and are willing to help organize conferences, mini-conferences… or have any other ideas to help ETAI provide better service to its members … please get in touch with Marna () or me ()!

And we need new members, in order to continue and increase our activity. If you aren’t a member yet, please consider joining us! You can get discount membership at the mini-conferences and Beer Sheva conference, so there’s another reason to attend these (see details of upcoming events below).

OK, this is a Newsletter, so let’s get away from the promotion, and into news!

  • The Board had a very successful ‘Retreat’ at Amanda Caplan’s home at the end of October, where we reconsidered the functions of ETAI in general and the Board in particular, and took various practical decisions.
  • The organizers of the Winter Conference (led by Mitzi Geffen) are, as I write, putting the finishing touches to the program, which looks brilliant: varied, interesting, good speakers. Remember: December 28 at Ulpanat Amit, Beer Sheva. More details on our website (
  • Winter mini-conferences are scheduled as follows:
  • Sunday, Dec 14: Hatzor HaGlilit
  • Tuesday, January 20: Maghar
  • Tuesday, February 3: Beit Yerach

And further mini-conferences for the spring and early summer planned for Ramat Gan, Kfar Saba, Jerusalem, Rishon LeTzion, Nazereth, Holon. Check out the website regularly for further details.

  • We are at present updating our database and putting all members who have emails into ‘gmail’ groups by area so that we can keep in touch in the future mainly by email rather than snail-mail. Those of you already entered will be getting this by email! If you didn’t get it this way and have email, please email Marna (address above) and ask her to enter your address into your ‘group’!
  • The summer conference 2009 will be in Jerusalem: tentative dates are two days between July 6-8.
  • The new Forum is coming out at the end of the month, and according to the editors a lot of the articles are ready for the spring edition as well, which will be mainly devoted to the topic of coping with pupils with learning difficulties.

The next Newsletter will be sent out at the beginning of December!
