The United Way of King County (UWKC) is hiring AmeriCorps VISTA members to be placed at several organizations throughout King County to address K-12 education success. Eastside Pathways has been selected as a UWKC host site and seeks a passionate individual to serve as a Partnership Sustainability Coordinator for one year beginning in February 2015.

Founded in July 2011 in Bellevue, Washington, the mission of Eastside Pathwaysis to mobilize the entire Bellevue community to support every childstep by step from cradle to career. Families, providers, schools, and cities unite around common goals, measurements, and strategies to maximize each child’s opportunity for a productive, fulfilling life. Our work is based on the collective impact model and we are one of fifty communities in the StriveTogether network.

Eastside Pathways consists of a “backbone” nonprofit organization which convenes and facilitates our partnership of nearly 50 community organizations.

Position

The Partnership Sustainability Coordinator(PSC) reports to the Data Officer and works closely with the paid and volunteer staff and with partner organizations. The primary role of the PSC is to build the capacity of Eastside Pathways to enable systematic collaboration among existing community organizations. This includes planning for the long-term health and sustainability of the Eastside Pathways partnership.

This position will focus specifically on the design and implementation of self-sustaining systems to:

  • Quickly and effectively inform prospective individuals, organizations, and partners about the work of Eastside Pathways
  • Quickly and effectively help partners engage in and impact the work we are doing
  • Help partner organizations engage the community in a more impactful and culturally relevant way

The responsibilities of this position focus on creating the right environment to enable change. The ideal candidate will be responsible for helping deliver improved and sustained processes.

Eastside Pathways has a very small paid staff and uses a lot of volunteers in staff positions. Currently, we are finalizing an office location in the Bellevue area. We are looking for someone who will thrive in a start-up environment and who is a self-starter.

Job Responsibilities

The PSC is responsible for working with his/her Site Supervisor (Eastside Pathways Data Officer), the Executive Director, staff, volunteers, and partners to:

  • Develop and manage the project plan and schedule for this project
  • Investigate, map, and diagram existing internal structures at Eastside Pathways and those of the partnership to:
  • Onboard new partners for fastest impact possible
  • Streamline partner engagement
  • Facilitate deeper community engagement (community café model)
  • Support and assist in connecting with nearby collective impact efforts to inform Eastside Pathways systems improvements
  • Support in implementation of baseline partnership survey and analysis of resulting data
  • Use community and partner input to develop recommended plan for self-sustaining new systems and processes
  • Document and map recommended new systems and processes
  • Assist in roll-out of approved new systems and processes to partners
  • Execute and complete identified parts of the recommended project plan
  • Assist in planning for following year’s partnership survey

Skills and Qualifications

Eastside Pathways is seeking an individual with interest and experience in:

The ideal VISTA member for this position would demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills, be able to sense and respond to underlying barriers, feel comfortable developing strategy around governance and organizational structure, and have strong tactical/execution skills to follow through on a strategic plan.

Must also have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Interest in and experience with technical systems
  • Passion for diagnosing problems and seeing solutions through to implementation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of the K-12 education sector and 1-2 years of experience working with nonprofits preferred

As an AmeriCorps VISTA position, applicants must also meet the following minimum eligibility standards:

  • Be at least 18 years old upon entering VISTA training (there is no upper age limit)
  • Be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status
  • Not be listed in the National Sex Offender Registry database as having been convicted of sex-related crimes
  • Be willing to submit fingerprints for a criminal history background check
  • Be in a position to offer full-time service for one year
  • Be willing, to the maximum extent practicable, to live among and at the economic level of the low-income people served by VISTA projects
