This is an exciting opportunity to help CfD grow our equipment service for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People. We welcome applications from people who have experience of working with or supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing people and those with administration skills who would like to use these skills in a new area.

Job Aims:

  • To provide a frontline booking system for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people (service users) living in Bristol requiring equipment.
  • To liaise and manage the diaries of the Technical Officers, booking in home visits.
  • To manage the Resource Room and deal with any visitors in a professional manner.
  • To liaise with service users, informing them of home visit bookings, repairs, etc.
  • To develop marketing materials and arrange meetings, events, etc.

Terms and Conditions:

  • This is a part-time position of 19 hrs (actual hours will be flexible and may be worked over 4-5 days. Working hours to take place during our core working day of 10am – 4pm).
  • Involves occasionalevening and weekend work.
  • Post fixed term until March 31st, 2019 with possibility of extension (subject to funding).
  • Salary £18,000 - £22,000 Full time equivalent (Actual salary: £9120 - £11,147) per annum depending on experience.

Main tasks:

  1. Monitor the Equipment Service’s email inbox, responding promptly to all customer related queries.
  2. Answer all telephone calls for the Equipment Service.
  3. Prepare appropriate paperwork to issue to customers to authorise repairs.
  4. Process customer payments.
  5. Accept referrals to the service and conduct a thorough needs assessment (training provided).
  6. Provide information and advice to Service Users living in Bristol, maximising their choice and control to ensure they live independent lives.
  7. Record work on CfD’s CharityLog database and in paper files.
  8. Produce regular reports and statistics on work done.
  9. Monitor the service to make sure visits are made within our agreed timescale.
  10. Work with the CEO to develop marketing materials and maintain CfD’s Social Media presence and website.
  11. Support the CEO in the development of events and the recruitment and coordination of volunteers.
  12. Work with the CEO and other staff to help increase the Charity's profile within the local community.
  13. Prepare and present monthly reports on work undertaken in a timely manner at the end of each month.

General.

  1. Share in agreed staff development policies by receiving regular supervision and annual appraisals
  1. Develop an agreed personal training plan and carry this out using internal and external training as required.
  1. Participate in fundraising activities when required.
  1. Adhere to and promote CfD’s policies and standards, especially the Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Total Communication policies.
  1. Occasionally work unsociable hours and undertake travel as necessary and when agreed.
  1. Act as an ambassador for CfD promoting a positive and professional image and attitude at all time.
  1. Support the CEO and other CfD staff in achieving the aims of CfD and carry out such other relevant duties as may be agreed.
  1. Coordinate and manage own Access to Work support (if needed).
  1. Undertake any other duties as reasonably required or requested by line management

Note:The final interpretation of this job description rests with the CEO in consultation with the Board of Trustees and the jobholder. It will be reviewed in the course of supervision meetings and any amendments will be negotiated with the jobholder. The jobholder is also expected to share in other CfD activities as time permits and by agreement with the CEO.

CRITERIA / ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Qualifications / Educated to A-Level standard, including Math’s and English GCSEs. / Relevant professional qualification
Knowledge, skills and experience / Knowledge and understanding of the voluntary sector and sympathy with the objectives of CfD.
At least 1 year experience of working in Equipment or Administration Sector. / Experience of working with deaf and/or hard of hearing people
Some knowledge of specialist equipment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. / Experience of working closely with Service Users and explaining complex issues clearly
Experience of producing reports. / Understanding of the social model of disability
Experience of collating and inputting data onto databases. / Experience in recruitment and coordination of volunteers.
Experience of marketing and social media
Skills and Abilities / Clear, concise and creative written communication skills appropriate to a range of documentation, with attention to detail.
Experience of positive team working and team participation, but also comfortable with periods of lone working. / Ability to plan, priorities and manage several Service Users simultaneously from start to finish, including meeting demanding timescales and dealing with conflicting priorities.
Tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
A pleasant telephone manner.
An understanding of issues related to people who are deaf and hard of hearing.
To be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to work.
Excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel and Access. / Understanding of the Data Protection Act as it applies to small charities.
