Section 1: Content & Product

In Section 1, you are to select and complete one of the three options:

  1. Create a poster on all of the 3 environmental issues we are studying. The poster should include the causes of the issue, effects of it, and ways we can solve the problem. Use poster paper, construction paper, etc. and markers/colored pencils to create the finished product. Make sure it is organized, creative, and shows effort!
  2. Create a foldable/flipbook that covers all of the 3 environmental issues we are studying. The flipbook should include the causes, effects, and ways we can solve each issue/problem. Use construction paper, markers/colored pencils create the finished project. Make sure it is organized, creative, and shows effort!
  3. Create a tri-fold brochure advertising the 3 environmental issues we are studying. The center panels should include the causes, effects, and ways we can solve each issue/problem. Make sure it is organized, creative, and shows effort!

Section 2: Work Ethic & Reflection

Section 2 rewards you for:

-Working hard and using time wisely IN CLASS…

  • BE PRODUCTIVE!
  • Pace yourself… You should be finishing 1/3 of your project EACH DAY. As soon as we learn about the topic, you should be using your resources to create your poster/book/brochure!
  • Using resources appropriately (textbooks, atlases, art supplies, notes, etc.)
  • If reminded to “get back on task”, you should respond quickly and remain on-task. Multiple reminders will result in a loss of your “In-class Effort” points – you receive 2 points each day.

-Writing a short Homework Reflection at the completion of our in-class work…

  • Your Reflection should consist of two 4-sentence paragraphs.
  • In paragraph #1, you should write how our research made you feel … Were you upset by the way the environment was being treated? Were you mad? Did you feel like you could make a difference? Did you feel overwhelmed? THINK AND FEEL about the issues.
  • In paragraph #2, you should consider how Africa’s environmental issues are affecting the people in Africa AND around the world.
