The Environmental Health, Safety & Security Manager is responsible for the coordination of environmental health, safety, process safety management, emergency response, security and loss prevention activities for the bakery as a whole. Evaluates health, safety and security performance to drive continuous improvement. This position is responsible for acting as the bakery liaison with regulatory agencies, and bakery senior leadership.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and administers effective occupational health, safety, ergonomics and industrial hygiene programs, including maintenance of related policy and procedure manuals.
  • Educates, motivates and trains management and production personnel in good housekeeping practices, safe work procedures, PPE, etc.
  • Administers the audiometric testing and hearing conservation programs.
  • Manages the plant personal protective equipment, work clothing and safety equipment programs according to company standards and operating budget.
  • Administers the respiratory protection program, including quantitative fit testing, respirator distribution, cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Assists Corporate Risk Management in administration of the workers' compensation program, including effective medical case management, reporting, record maintenance and follow-up.
  • Develops and implements effective plant programs for the identification, prevention and control of occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Develops and coordinates the Bakery’s health and safety education and training programs.
  • Implements systems to improve performance and insure meeting or exceeding regulatory compliance
  • Manages compliance through an in-depth auditing process developing corrective actions to address findings
  • Ensures that industrial hygiene, medical, personnel safety, process safety and emergency response needs are adequately addressed.
  • Oversees and supports employee involvement efforts through employee safety involvement teams.
  • Ensures that Health and Safety management systems are in place to accomplish strategic plans and goals.
  • Ensures PSM compliance across the ECB facility.
  • Communicates and works with each plant to facilitate standardized interpretation and implementation of Health and Safety systems.
  • Inputs and makes recommendations into the development and delivery of local and Divisional goals and key Safety metrics.
  • Leads the Bakery Safety Committee as Chairperson.
  • Maintains current awareness of applicable federal, state and local health, industrial hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Maintains legal, governmental and company environmental, health, medical and safety-related records according to standards, including confidentiality.
  • Ensures accurate OSHA 200/300 logs at both sites.
  • Accompanies visiting inspectors, reports findings and leads remediation efforts.
  • Leads the Bakery’s hazard communication program, including maintaining up-to-date MSDS, effective identification of all chemicals, chemical inventory and related training and education programs.
  • Oversees all manufacturing and support operations to assure Environmental Health, Safety and Security.
  • Oversees and ensures that Job Safety Analyses (JSA's) and safe operating procedures are in place for all tasks.
  • Oversees and monitors all post-accident investigations.
  • Develops and implements audit programs to review and assure compliance with applicable health and safety standards.
  • Accumulates, prepares and enters health, industrial hygiene, medical and safety data into applicable databases.
  • Develops and follows an audit plan for assessing security risks in both Bakery locations.
  • Performs security audits, monitors compliance and performs risk and vulnerability assessments.
  • Works closely with other corporate departments(Risk), external vendors and external agencies regarding Security and Safety, as needed.
  • When security breaches occur within the Bakery, investigates to understand the source of the breach, assess and contain the damage, and subsequently devise measures that will help protect against such events in the future.
  • Keeps abreast of security related technology, practices and regulations in the marketplace
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Six years of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in leading environmental and industrial health programs, including experience with environmental agencies and required reporting.
  • Experience in Security, Risk management or associated experience.
  • Ability to work any shift is required.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English.
  • Able to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Creativity and the ability to embrace and drive change.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of commitment.
  • Uses good judgment, behaves with integrity, and uses available resources, knowledge, and logic to arrive at the best possible decisions.
  • Excellent communicator both orally and in writing.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
