The attached form should be received by the Academic Registry at least two months before the thesis is submitted
Section A – to be completed by the Candidate
Please enter your full name; please note that your name as declared on initial registration will appear on your degree certificate when awarded. Name changes (such as through marriage) must be notified to the Academic Registry with proof of identity.
Ensure that the Academic Registry knows your home address and your contact address.Official correspondence from the university will be mailed to your last registered contact address (or if there is no current contact address, your home address). If you request your certificate to be mailed, you must provide the appropriate mailing address at the time of your award.
When you have completed Section A, which includes a declaration of originality, please remember to sign itandreturn it to Shane Dowle in the Academic Registry (contact details below).
Section B
The examination will by conducted by a Board of Examiners comprising at least three examiners. Nominations will ordinarily be submitted to the Academic Registry not later than two months and not earlier than six monthsbefore the submission is made.
At least two of the examiners must be external to and independent of the University. None of the examiners can have co-authored any of the works used by the candidate in their submission. The examiners may not have any personal or professional relationship which could give rise to a conflict of interest and must be authorities in the discipline(s) covered in the candidate’s submission. It is advisable to use examiners at Professorial level or equivalent.
The form should be signed by the Dean ofFaculty, or designated signatory. The form should then be sent to Shane Dowle in the Academic Registry at least two months before the thesis is to be submitted (contact details below).
Report on DSc Submission
On receipt of the submission, each external examinermust complete the Report on the DSc Submission and must indicate one of the prescribed award recommendations. Each examiner is asked to determine whether the works submitted demonstrate that the candidate has personally made a substantial contribution to original research and knowledge and has become an authority in the field or fields concerned. The form must be signed by the examiner and returned to Shane Dowle in the Academic Registry.
Section D
External examiners are invited in this section to comment furtheron the conduct and standards of the examination process to facilitate quality enhancement mechanisms.
