Summary:

The Marketing Coordinator acts as an extension and support to the Director of Marketing and assists or may take a lead role in the advertising, media buying, promotions, public relations and grassroots efforts at the Encana Events Centre.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Communications or Sports/Business Management.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years marketing experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral skills, including presentation experience.
  • Knowledge of public relations.
  • Knowledge of social media.
  • Knowledge of website maintenance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) applications.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Creative and proactive problem solver.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and selected holidays.
  • Knowledge of Data Base Marketing software.
  • Previous experience with media buying and promotions
  • Have successfully managed and created budgets
  • Must have a valid Canadian Passport and drivers license

Job Functions:

  • Assist in developing and implementing marketing plans and strategies for the venue and events
  • Participate in sales and marketing meetings to add creative ideas to brainstorming sessions to increase events and revenue.
  • Development, coordinate and provide support for familiarization tours, media drops, public relations campaigns, grass roots activities, site inspections, client events, concerts, family shows, sporting events and other miscellaneous events
  • Assist in the development, execution and monitoring of media and promotional agreements for the Encana Events Centre
  • Support in the development, implementation and reporting of marketing campaigns to maximize event awareness and exposure for aforementioned events.
  • Assist in the communication and support efforts for other departments
  • Assist in the coordination of internet and database marketing programs and initiatives.
  • Assist in the compilation of event settlement reconciliations and recap summaries
  • Assist with social media development, web design and market research
  • Assist in creation and implementation of all aspects of ticketed event sales plans
  • Develop promotions and day of event activities
  • Execute event responsibilities as required for major ticketed events
  • Assist in negotiating, closing and implementing media, promotional partner, and sponsorship deals
  • Assist in the creation, implementation, reporting of grassroots marketing plans
  • Work with promoters on group sales plans and budgets
  • Create collateral materials such as print ads, promotional pieces, posters, schedules, calendars and various ticket brochures from concept to completion
  • Assist in the preparation of marketing and venue reports
  • Participate in monthly conference calls with other Spectra entities
  • Coordinate marketing efforts between promoters, artist management and local media
  • Promote “How You Doin’?” customer service program and culture
  • Update website, marquee and in-arena address systems (including flyers, posters, TV’s, in-game, and hold line) creative
  • Assist with the maintenance of the venue and affiliated organizations websites including databases, email and social networking assets
  • Conduct group sales functions as needed for various events including the coordination of grassroots campaigns
  • Assist in developing new marketing programs and initiatives to maximize ticket sales such as third party partnerships, new media avenues
  • Provide support and assistance to the Special Events Manager with event promotion, post event survey creation/distribution/data compilation
  • Provide support and assistance to the Special Events manager with pre-event preparation and set up when requested
  • Assist the Special Events Manager with event research when creating and producing new event concepts
  • Under the direction of the Marketing Director, request hotel block bookings for events, follow up with the hotel to release the rooms and liaise with the box office to ensure that the hotel room and ticketing match.
  • Upon receipt of hotel room invoice, cross reference the guest information with the booking reference
  • Participate in the development and implementation of annual marketing goals, objectives, policies and priorities
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

  • Increases and maintains the public’s awareness of upcoming events, while promoting the facility; assists in continuously improving marketing/public relations efforts; develops and maintains cooperative, positive relationships with the community, media, and promoters; promotes facility’s reputation as a world-class venue.

Authority:

  • Recruits and supervises interns within company guidelines; prepares written proposals; prepares contracts as required; develops and issues press releases and database newsletters.
