Call to Order

Vice Chairman Don Christian called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. Gloria Robins called the roll.

Final Selection of Inductees

The board discussed the dates and location for the 2005 Induction Ceremony.

Don Christian moved to set Friday, September 30, 2005 as the date for the 2005 Entertainers Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to be held at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

Nominees for 2005 Induction Ceremony

Susie Madsen reported on how difficult it was in getting confirmations back from the nominees. The Board discussed possible solutions to the problem.

Charles Dodson moved for the Convention Center to send the top two nominees in each category letters stating they had been nominated for induction. The nominees have until November 12, 2004 to confirm if they will be able to attend and perform at the ceremony where applicable. Jim Porter seconded and the motion carried.

Jim Porter resigned from the commission in order to be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame. The commission accepted his resignation.

Don Christian moved to induct the following Arkansans into the Entertainers Hall of Fame: Performing – John Michael Talbot and Colin Raye; Non-Performing – Elizabeth Williams; Posthumous – Lefty Frizzell and Albert Brumley; Pioneer – Jim Porter and Ed Bruce. Don Wright seconded and the motion carried.

Governor Mike Huckabee selected John Weston to receive the Governor's Award.

NOTE: Mr. Weston died on June 30, 2005 and the Governor asked that Mr. Weston be moved to the Posthumous category. The Governor selected Lawrence Hamilton to receive the Governor’s Award.

Election of Chairman and Vice Chairman

Don Wright moved to nominate Don Christian as Chairman. Jim Porter seconded and the motion carried.

Don Wright moved to nominate Joel Ruminer as Vice Chairman. Charles Dodson seconded and the motion carried.

Miscellaneous

The Board suggested the next meeting be held at the Pine Bluff Convention Center so new Board members could tour the facilities.

Joel Ruminer moved to adjourn at approximately Noon, September 8, 2004. Charles Dodson seconded and the motion carried.
