Enter the London St Patrick's Day Parade 2018

We welcome entries from individuals through to walking groups in the parade. Vehicle entries are also accepted - motorbike clubs through to trucks and everything in between (provided we can accommodate them).

This year London St. Patrick’s Day Parade has changed the classification of parade groups to create an even more enjoyable event and make it even more accessible for groups.

What type of group should I apply as?

Below is a quick run-down to help you classify your parade group type.

Non-Profit

This is a charity, network group or social group, without a corporate affiliation or funding. Examples: registered charities, Universities, national and local government, community and sports clubs.

Commercial

A corporate group/commercial business.

Vehicle Sizes.

Vehicles are now classified in two sizes based on the space it will take up. The size of the float and classification type of group creates the price needed for a float. Sizes of floats include all decoration and vehicle parts. The maximum allowable size is shown below.

Category / Width / Length / Height
Small Float / <2.5 meters / <6 meters / 4 meters
Large Float / <2.5 meters / <9 meters / 4 meters

The following table contains some examples for you to consider the sizes of.

Small Float / Large Float
Up to 4 motorbikes or bicycles / Flatbed lorry
Single car / Single trailer lorry
People carrier / Bus (single or double deck)
Transit van / Box van
Mini bus (15 seats) / XL wheelbase van
Car with short trailer / JCBs and the likes

All vehicles should be dressed in a celebratory St Patrick’s themed manner, but wheels must be kept clear and unobstructed.

Vehicle and driver requirements

Due to the current climate, the rules of vehicles on parades has changed.

Please note: We will require full vehicle details and registrations and a copy of the driver’s driving licence a month before the event. All drivers must accept to have their details police checked. It is likely that vehicles will also have to go through a full police search before being allowed on the parade route.

·  Fully insured for the driver(s) and use in the procession (you will need to provide a copy).

Your driver must:

•  Hold a current drivers licence relevant to the vehicle they are driving (this must be available for inspection).

•  Have experience of and be capable of driving the load safely.

•  Not be under the influence of any alcohol or drugs whatsoever.

The Support Driver

All floats MUST have a support driver who must provide all of the above qualifications and paperwork.

Will my float be inspected on the day?

On parade day at form up the driver and vehicle support must report to the float coordinator for your parade section on arrival. Your float and equipment on board such as generators and sound systems, as well as any decorations and structures built on the float will be subject to a full health and safety inspection. Failure to meet the requirements in this document may result in equipment or structures being removed and in more serious cases the float will be withdrawn from the Parade.

Please note: strictly NO PETROL generators will be allowed on the parade. No generators of any kind will be allowed in vans or any vehicle in which fumes could reach the driver.
