Night Support Worker
Location / Unseen’sMAP Project (Men’s Anti-Slavery Project Safe House) North Somerset
Reports to / House Manager
Purpose / Unseen directly support survivors of trafficking: men, women and children.
The Support Worker will be based at Unseen’s 24/7 staffed men’s safe house:
  1. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of survivors at the project.
  1. Responsible for the security of the project and grounds
  1. To keep accurate recordsand ensure clear communication within the team and wider organisation
  1. Undertake any other duties as required to maintain the smooth running of the service.

Salary Range / £79.95 per night shift
Hours of work / 8.30pm to 8.30am, averaging 7 nights per 2 week rota.
As a guide, the night shift is a sleeping night between 11.30pm and 6.30am but you will be required to wake and respond to any incidents or situations requiring your attention overnight.
Entitlements / Full time staff receive 33 days holiday per year inclusive of bank holidays
Unseen has an organisation-wide opt-out pension scheme.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  1. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of survivors at the project.

1.1 Work in conjunction with House Manager and Senior Support workers to provide holistic support to survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery

1.2Work in a person-centered way, empowering survivors to make their own decisions to promote feelings of safety, hope and choice.

1.3Remain apprised of survivors’ risk management plans and responses required

1.4Carry out welfare checks when required

1.5Work with survivors and colleagues to promote good sleep hygiene within the project

1.6Welcome and help induct new arrivals

1.7Respond to incidents and requests for help

2Responsible for the security of the project and grounds.

2.1 Ensure the building and grounds are secure at all times during the course of your shift

2.2 Close down the house and set alarms at curfew and reverse the process in the morning

2.3 Facilitate fire drills and maintain record

2.4 Respond to emergencies and alarms

2.5 Carry out daily health and safety checks, recording any action required.

2.6 report any maintenance issues through the appropriate channels

3To keep accurate records and ensure clear communication within the team and wider organisation

3.1Review and update risk management plans as required

3.2Update case notes and support plans at the end of each shift

3.3Complete thorough handover of significant and relevant information to colleagues coming on shift

3.4Complete required paperwork in cases of incidents and accidents as laid out in Unseen’s protocols.

3.5Keep data records up to date for monitoring and evaluation purposes
