Competitive Call for Grant Applications
Geographic Scope / UK only
Applicant Eligibility / Applications are invited from General Practices, CCGs, GP federationsand other healthcare organisations thatprovide or wish to provide Stop Smoking support.
Grants can only be awarded to organisations not individuals.
Grants cannot be awarded to commercial for-profit organisations.
Applications must be made by an employee of the healthcare organisation.
Clinical Area / Smoking Cessation Support
Specific Areas of Interest / To improve patient carethrough enhanced provision of stop smoking support
We are particularly interested in receiving proposals/innovative pilots that fulfil any of the following criteria:
- Enhanceor establish patient access to smoking cessation support in general practice
- Provide an educational legacy to support continued management of smoking cessation as a priority for general practice
- Enhancing long term condition patients care on discharge from hospital through innovative approaches
Out of Scope of this Call: /
- Projects bearing the name of specific medicines (medicines should only be referred to by class (e.g. smoking cessation pharmacotherapies))
- Projects designed to increase the uptake of a single therapeutic agent or intervention (projects should be aimed at improving adherence to specific guidelines or patient pathways)
- Projects that are in scope of one of Pfizer’s other Smoking Cessation MEGS programmes
- Improving the Health of Our Community
- Smoking Population Insights
- Quit @ Work
- Enhance in Practice
- Clocks
- Applications for funding of services which should be provided as standardwithin the NHS
- Interventional or observational clinical studies
- In vitro or in vivo (animal) studies
- Non-interventional studies, such as epidemiology studies
- Outcomes research studies where the primary focus is to understand the results of particular healthcare practices and interventions as well as to monitor and improve the quality of care
- Other types of independent research on disease states, including novel diagnostic screening tools and surveys
Expected Monetary Range of Applications /
- Grant applications from individual GP practices must not exceed £3,000
- Grantapplicationsfrom other organisationmust not exceed £10,000
Key Dates / Applications for this Call will be accepted between World No Tobacco Day on29thMay 2017 and 31st July 2017.
Applications will be reviewed on 15th Augustto evaluate and select the best proposals.

Grant Review Information / Grant applications will be reviewed by Pfizer colleagues that hold relevant medical and compliance positions within the organisation
Grants will be reviewedagainst to the criteria set out in this Call for IPASC Grant Applications.
It is anticipated that applications will be reviewed and applicants informed of the decision in August 2017.
Mechanism by which Applicants will be Notified / All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their grant application by email. Applicants may also be contacted by Pfizer to provide further clarification in order to support the review of any applications
Other Information / Successful applicants will be required to provide a final project evaluation. For projects of longer duration periodic progress status updates may be requested
Where a project requests support for a named healthcare professional to carry out the work, we may be required to assess other activities where that individual has worked with Pfizer to ensure there are no conflicts of interest or perceived conflicts of interest
