†Each locus was tested in 21 greenfinch Carduelis chloris, 17 common crossbill Loxia curvirostra, 23 Eurasian bullfinch Pyrrhula pyrrhula and 20 chaffinch Fringilla coelebs individuals;

The PCR program used for all loci was 95ºC for 15 min followed by 35 cycles of 94ºC for 30 s, 56ºC for 90 s, 72ºC for 60 s, a final extension step of 60ºC for 6 min and an ambient holding temperature;
