STUDY TIME IN BRITAIN
The academic year at British universities normally lasts for 24 weeks. Studies begin in late September and continue uninterrupted for twelve weeks. There is then a three week holiday for Christmas. Students return in the second week of January (most students do not have exams at this time) and study for a further twelve weeks until Easter.
After another three week holiday students return for one or two weeks of revision before the final exams, which last for approximately three weeks. Most subjects are assessed by a combination of courseworks and exams. All academic activity (including the completion of dissertations) is normally completed by the end of May.
Results are published in late June/early July. Students may return home immediately after the exams finish.______
