I am looking forward to a great school year with you. I hope this information will help you succeed.

Statement of Family

I think of my classroom as a home and that makes all of you my family. We will learn to work together to besuccessful. I will show you respect and I expect each of you to treat me and every other person in this class with respect. We will encourage each other to do our best and we will speak positively to each other.Come to class with a good attitude, be motivated and ready to learn! If you have a problem, come to me and we will try to work it out.

Course Goal

- To enrich academic vocabulary.

- To learn critical thinking.

- To improve ability to read and write well.

- To prepare for high school, college, and life.

Grades

You will have grades for daily work,class participation, bell work,projects, quizzes and tests. EVERY POINT COUNTS! Work as hard as you can every time and you will make a good grade in my class.

Make up work

Try not to be absent ever- you miss a lot in just one day! It is your responsibility to find out what you missed and make it up. I will NOT take late work after the unit test.

Copying

Any student turning in work that is not his/her own will get a ZERO on that assignment and double work. Copying is NOT ok!!!

Food and drinks

We would like to keep ELL classroom clean, so if you have food at your desk, don't leave any mess. Each student will have 3 warnings after which the right to bring food to my class will be taken for 1 week.

Bonus

There will be opportunities to bonus. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT WHEN IT IS AVAILABLE!

Hall Passes

If you feel it is an EMERGENCY, tell me, get a pass and go to the restroom or the nurse. Each student will have only 3 hall passes a week, for unused passes points will be added to the student’s account (1 pass – 10 points).

I, Ms. Alder, reserve the right to change the syllabus for this class if it is necessary. Any changes will be explained to you.
