New low cost roller energy chain and guiding trough from igus
Low friction and light weight for long travels
Energy chain specialist igus UK has launched a new roller energy chain, the 3500R, and a modular plastic guiding profile, guidelite, which are ideal for long travels. They are part of igus’ growing modular system for all types of movement, which provide cost-effective and simple solutions for all energy supply.
The new 3500R e-chain series, which is based on the proven two-piece energy chain family E2/000, enables long travels of up to 150 m at speeds of up to 4 m/s with low additional loads to be achieved cost-effectively. It is the ideal solution for applications where travel is too long for a pure sliding application, and where a robust P4 roller energy chain is over-dimensioned due its weight.
The low friction roller system safely drives energy cables and is especially energy-efficient compared to sliding solutions, achieving travels more economically. The design has many advantages – it is safe, silent, durable and abrasion-resistant.
The easy-to-install energy chain can be opened from the external radius and is adjustable to suit any horizontal application thanks to its modular interior separation. The modular design of the roller chain link allows the use of all widths of the standard 3500 series, from 50 to 250mm. All 3500R series energy chains are part of the comprehensive modular system and are therefore delivered from stock.
The 3500R energy chain series can also be safely guided in igus’ new guidelite system, a modular plastic guiding profile which can be quickly installed, is economic, corrosion-resistant and extremely lightweight.
The system is designed for slow applications with low cycle numbers and can withstand harsh conditions with its weather resistance, insensitivity against dirt and high impact strength at low temperatures. For example, it is ideal for guiding water hoses in greenhouses.
“Guidelite is suitable for many applications where the speed, cycle numbers and additional load requirements are at the lower range,” says Justin Leonard, director at igus. “It can be used as a low-cost supporting trough for free-supporting applications and it is ideal for igus E2/000 and E4.1 e-chain series.”
