English IV Syllabus
Dear Students,
I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you this year. We will have many fun and exciting learning opportunities in this class.
We will be reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey and The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood. These novels may be purchased at Barnes and Noble. Of course you may check it out from the library.
You will be expected to complete a Senior Writing portfolio in order to graduate from GHS. This portfolio will include the following pieces of writing: personal narrative/personal expressive (one short story, poem, play), a reflective piece and a transactive piece (real world writing such as an editorial or a research paper with a works cited page).
You will need a Mead composition book for this class for journaling in addition to your regular notebook. The journal/composition book will be taken up periodically for a test grade. You will also need a flash drive for your senior writing portfolio. A self-addressed, stamped envelope will be required for our "Letter to Me" assignment on Wednesday, August 10, 2011.
I look forward to having a great year with you. My email address is .
