On loose-leaf paper, or typed-written, compose a short writing sample (or at least two paragraphs containing a minimum of five sentences each) that analyzes the use of symbols in the short story. Your analysis must include the following:
A thesis statement that describes generally the importance of symbols in the story (in other words, why does the author use them?)
Find three important symbols in the story. You must identify the symbol and quote the text. You must then explain what broader idea or experience the symbol represents. Finally, you must discuss how this symbol fits into the theme or lesson of the story
