English for Applied Science (ENAS1, ENAS2):
The main aim of the course of English for Applied Sciences is to develop students’ four most important communication skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) in the English language, in the fields of applied mathematics and informatics in economics. The course, presented in a communicative way, develops the students' language competences, introduces the terminology of the given fields and presents the key grammar necessary for a successful conversation and presentation of economic topics. Attention is paid not only to the ability of the students to present their ideas and opinions fluently in English, but also focuses on grammatical and pronunciation correctness.
Credit Requirements (part-time study):
Participation in the first consultation, passing all four tests taken at the end of the semester (focused on reading comprehension, listening, writing, grammar). To pass any of the tests, it is necessary to score at least 50% in each test. In case of a failure, each test can be resat once only. To be entitled for the credits, the students have to undertake after each semester a final interview with a native speaker and the average percentage of all the tests has to be at least 70%.
