Positions Available

  • Summer intern positionsfor engineering technicians with demonstrated interest in providing technical and operational data support to drilling and completions or reservoir engineers.

Overview

  • The successful candidate will support engineers and management in the drilling and completion or subsurface organizations that are responsible for primarily company operated assets. The candidate will be expected to work closely with multidisciplinary teams and management in support of a variety of development activities and functions.

Job Responsibilities

Engineering Technicians at Marathon Oil contribute to meaningful projects that are designed, and implemented to deliver significant opportunities and results for both the employee and the company. Responsibilities include:

  • Loading or entering data in applications to be used by engineers
  • Compile and manipulate data from a variety of sources to assist with technical analysis
  • Create various reports to understand variances and metrics
  • Preparing reports and summaries required for monthly and quarterly meetings
  • Maintain various engineering databases through thorough quality control and regular updates
  • Identify and implement process improvements related to existing workflows
  • Build effective networks within Marathon Oil for knowledge of business processes and applications
  • Ensure compliance with corporate data handling policies

Computer Applications

  • Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis of Excel and PowerPoint, advanced knowledge preferred
  • IHS / Drilling Info. knowledge is preferred
  • ARIES knowledge is preferred
  • Spotfire/Programming proficiency is preferred
  • Experience with OFM, TOW, and Wellview is a plus
  • Experience with VOLTS, MicroStrategy,and/or SAP is a plus

Qualifications

  • Education Level: Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Major: Mathematics
  • Student/Candidate is required to maintain a 3.0 overall GPA.
  • Have authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, teamwork, and strong organization and planning skills
