POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title:Technical Support Aide I

Reports To:Supervisor Technical Support

Department:Sewer System Maintenance and Operations

Job Summary:

Perform duties to assist with flow monitoring, surveying, computer aided drafting and construction inspection. Create, modify and update drawings; perform technical, clerical and field duties; document management.

Essential Functions:

Use the computer for information storage and retrieval such as preparing drawings and maintaining records.

Assist in the inspection and monitoring of contractor repairs.

Organize, collate, and compile information. Set up and maintain project files, progress charts and schedules.

Review, evaluate and respond to Ohio Utility Protection Service notices as required; locate and stake all District facilities that may be impacted by construction activities. Research survey data property ownership records; locate and evaluate reference material.

Design drawings and other printed material. Prepare survey maps and review specifications, prepare AutoCAD drawings, process monthly rain data and generate rain graphs.

Work closely with the team such as acting as a rodman or chainman on survey crews. Assist Sewer System Maintenance and Operation as required.

Analyze and interpret numerical and written material. Assist in investigating, setting-up, and profiling channels for portable flow monitoring.

Perform in-house preventive maintenance repairs and cleaning of flow monitoring equipment.

Observe safe work practices

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education:High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:One (1) year drafting experience or equivalent additional related education.

Specific Skills:Ability to use electronic drafting programs to produce detailed drawings; Ability to read and interpret maps and construction plans.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc:

Certificate of completion for AutoCAD course

Knowledge of materials and methods used in drafting

Valid Ohio Driver License and a driving record in accordance with the District’s insurance carrier.

Must obtain a certificate of completion of the Red Cross Standard Multimedia First Aid Course and C.P.R certification within six (6) months of employment with re-certification on a regular basis.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Working Conditions:

General office environment including time spent visiting sites that are out of doors. Working in high volume vehicle traffic areas. Working in various types of confined spaces, such as, wet wells, manholes and sewers. Working in elevated locations (rooftops, ladders, etc.).

Physical Demands:

A majority of time spent sitting with occasional standing, walking, and stooping. Occasionally (up to 50%) of time spent out of doors. Locations may be noisy, dirty, confined space environments that are occasionally contaminated and may require eye and ear protection and up to 10% of time needing breathing apparatus. No facial hair that would impede the use of breathing apparatus. Must not have tendencies toward claustrophobia or acrophobia.
